Freesia II

Gotta paint these before they fade away. You might possibly see more versions.

In May I will be participating in The Lake Minnetonka Arts Tour

This will be my first year and my first time in showing a large group of my work. I guess that makes me a virgin. There are 23 open studios with 51 artists participating. I am a guest at the studio of photographer Beverly Anglum It should be fun getting to know new artists and new collectors. If you are in the area be sure to check it out.

BTW - I have been having problems getting feedburner to send out my blog feeds to my wonderful subscribers - they of course offer no help for those of us who are technically challenged. If anyone has had similar problems or can be of help please let me know! Thanks.

Freesia

I didn't plan on being away this long but I've decided things always take much longer than what I think. I had planned to paint most of the weekend and what I thought would only take a 2-3 hours Saturday morning took most of the weekend. I've designed my daughter's wedding invitations and needed to get them printed and cut to get them sent out tomorrow. Between the wedding, my taxes, and an art tour to get ready for next month, I'm starting to feel a bit frazzled. I've decided I would like a caretaker - someone to take care of the house, the meals, the laundry I haven't done for 2 weeks ( that was another thing I didn't get to this weekend) someone to just take care of me. That would be fabulous.
I bought some flowers at the store this afternoon and painted this evening. I needed that. Painting seems to be where I find my center and I feel much calmer now. And happy.
Some more pink flowers, pink seems to be my color du jour these days, I'll have to look up the meaning of that color.

The Quintuplets

Today was a fabulous day in the northland! It got up close to 60 today - not bad since it was zero the other day.
I didn't get as much painting done as I had planned this weekend but I sure got a lot of planning done. After a couple months of not being too inspired it was good to get that feeling back. I've come to realize my ebbs and flows seem to follow the seasons. After looking back through journals I could see they happen about the same time each year.
This may seem kind of strange but not really. It would make sense that artists would be more in tune with nature's rhythms and as winter is a time of rest and darkness maybe that's the way our own rhythms flow - to come to a point where it is time to rest, to let the creative spirit regenerate. Now that spring is upon us I can feel it returning to my own spirit. That's my theory anyway. In any case I can really feel a difference in the energy surrounding my art.

A Peony for Your Thoughts

In my last post I was celebrating the birds being back - tonight I'm wondering what critter is trying to get into my house. As I was painting I could hear thumping and scratching below me. I had visions of a racoon setting up shop in my basement - a quick peek downstairs assured me nothing was there - most likely under the deck. It seems a little early (and cold) for the animals to be getting busy - but when nature calls I guess you answer!
I'm looking forward to painting these peonies from my garden.

Warbler

Aah... the birds are back. The morning concerts have started. I saw six robins yesterday. There's a big winter storm coming and an expectation of 2 below zero on Wednesday morning. Something is not right with this scenario!
