River Serenity

Another landscape from the Tetons. I believe this is the on the Snake River. What a beautiful site. Looks like we are the only ones there doesn't it? What you don't see is all the people watching the group of about 8 otters playing on the bank on the opposite shore. The best view for that show though, was the kayak sitting just off shore from where they played. Bet they wish they had a camera!
I think I would like to sit on my porch and see this view everyday - minus all the people of course.

"Raven Walking" Raven painting by Deb Kirkeeide

I've been trying to paint this in and around the activities of this last weekend. The dust has settled now and I think I can get back to my routine.
I have another larger piece in the works - stay tuned!

Figure Standing

Another figure from the archives. I'm really enjoying revisiting these, I'm thinking it's time to get in some life drawing time again.
I'm also thinking I need to get these framed!

Figure Study

I was going through some files recently and came across some drawings I did a few years ago. Well, probably a lot of years ago since I seem to have no concept of time anymore. Kinda scary!

I took figure drawing class at Atelier Lac. I remember trying to get used to standing at an easel and drawing. Something I had never really done before - which speaks volumes of my art education, huh?
All I could do is laugh! I felt like I had never picked up a pencil in my life.

It was fun coming across this - I will post another tomorrow. I also discovered folders full of sketches and ideas for works of art in all applications - lampshades (this I do occasionally - actually very cool, cut rice paper collages) sculpture (this I don't do, but when I do I will be prepared) a design for a mosaic table(still haven't gotten to but very feng shui)and various sketches of dreams and ideas that drop in to visit. I really need to get busy! So many ideas, not enough time in the day!

Hope your files and days are full of creative ideas!

Glorious

This was a sight to behold. I don't think any paint or photo could ever truly capture watching this sunset out west. We watched it unfold as we were driving, racing to find a spot to pull off the road and watch - luckily there are a lot of spots to accommodate such things!

Big Sky in Wyoming

And they give Montana all the credit....

Another view of the mountains but more about their heads in the clouds.
Ha! much like I've been feeling lately but that's a story for another time and it may be time come down to earth a bit!

This was a big sky, fabulous clouds. Tried to do this one quick and I'm not sure I did that sky the justice it deserves.

Teton Glow

Back to the Midwest. Where are the mountains?? I seriously thought about how I could make the move out there...wonder if it's the vacation afterglow or a true calling? something to ponder I think. Although I do admit I like my little place here. I think the only solution is homes in many places. Anybody want to buy some paintings??

We had a great time in Yellowstone and the Tetons. Our goal was to see all the wildlife they had listed on the park brochure - we didn't quite reach our goal but we did see moose, elk, buffalo, otters, coyotes, swans, ravens, deer and cowboys. Not bad.
Thought we lost the car when we parked and left car running to charge up the dead battery that morning - (but we had to get the picture of the moose!) Coming back, we didn't see it where we left it - "Mom? Is my car gone???" it was just hiding behind a truck. Anything for a good photo op.

I was itching to paint the whole time but really had no time or supplies this trip. Just a camera and the experience.
There was a storm just ahead of us as we headed back from Yellowstone and by the time we got to the Tetons it was getting close to sunset and the clouds and light were spectacular. This is a tame view of the spectacle. There were still areas of mist hanging on the mountains and the sun coming through the clouds absolutely glowed when it hit all that moisture. Hoping I can capture more on canvas as the week goes on and it is freshly imprinted in my brain.

Headed West

This is a painting I did quite awhile ago. But I love it and it shows you what my eyes and heart will be feasting on this weekend.
I'm headed west to Utah to see my daughter and we're headed up to Jackson Hole for a couple days. Tetons, Yellowstone
These are amazing mountains, kind of leaves you speechless at their majesty.

Mother Earth is a beautiful and wondrous lady.
