"Wommer Woman"
When my daughter was 3 her favorite show was Wonder Woman. She would put on her Wonder Woman UnderRoos and spin like Diana Prince spinning into her Wonder Woman persona. To this day I cannot think of Wonder Woman without seeing that image of my 3 year old daughter spinning in circles, hair flying out around her and yelling "Wommer Woman!!!" I love that at such a young age she chose a strong and noble woman as her heroine.
Today Krista turns 30 and still loves Wonder Woman.
Happy Birthday Wommer Woman... I love you and wish I could be there to celebrate with you on such a milestone birthday. The best is yet to come!

Portrait v.4

Lila
This was totally out of my comfort zone. Painting a portrait... especially one of a friend's daughters. (there's another coming tomorrow) Figures have always been a hang up of mine so I carefully avoid them but it's time to face my fears (of what I don't know...) and this was a good nudge in that direction.
Thanks for stopping by!

Citrus Zest
There's a fresh take on grocery shopping when you examine the produce not specifically for its meal potential but for it's color and shape and how it might look as the subject of a painting.
This fresh little group conjurs up thoughts of summer. Fresh lemonade and perhaps a gin and tonic for those warm days...not sure what to do with the kumquats. I tasted them but they were like biting into a lemon.

Pera - still life oil painting of a pear
In honor of the Italian classes I am about to start, I used the Italian translation of pear.
As soon as I picked up this pear and saw that it had a leaf still attached I knew I had to paint it. Amazingly it made it home intact.
If you like this one there is another tomorrow - they make a good pair.

Simply Pink - floral impressionist oil painting
It was a glorious day here and no, I didn't get out to paint - they were predicting rain for the afternoon which of course never came. I should have known better.
Another in the flower series this week. I had done a smaller one the other night but I wasn't really happy with the composition and thought I would give it a go again today. This one is a larger format and is much fresher in color and brush work, which is what I was going for.

Mellow Yellow - Contemporary Impressionist Oil Painting
I've designated this week the week of the flower. Or wishful thinking, as far as the weather goes. Although I'm happy to report that the weather has warmed up, the snow is rapidly melting and I might be able to get out and do a little plein aire painting this weekend. I admit I am a "fair weather" outdoor painter and things haven't really started to green up yet to provide a little color to the landscape, so that would be a big MAYBE. We'll see.
This is another painting from my bouquet of flowers. I think Renunculas have become one of my favorite flowers
