This is an earlier piece but in light of (or lack of it) winter, I thought I'd bring out a little sunshine and color of summer.
This is one of my favorite paintings. Makes me think I should paint some flowers again - it's been a while.

Wow, this is beautiful! I see why it would be one of your favorites, it's mine too! Makes me feel good just to look at it.
Peonies are special to me! We have 3 huge bunches that bloom every year on my birthday. It lets me know that summer is just a few days away and that within the next 36 hours we'll get a violent thunderstorm with high wind. Bye, bye peonies. Every year I go out and take a series of reference photo's to paint. So far I have a large stack of reference photos. One of these days.
Deb, I'm glad you brought this one out. it's the perfect post for December 17th.
So ... lease or buy? What is it? A monster truck?
Thanks Doug, I wasn't aware that Peonies and storms went hand in hand! (But it makes sense, somehow)
with all those reference photos you have to paint some.
and yes, monster trucks are soooo me - I can just drive over anything in that gets in my way. Actually, I got a Soul! Aren't I Zen?
You got your Soul?! Well, I mean to say...you got a vehicle? You always had your soul...a very deep, caring and spectacular soul!!!!!! Glad to see some flowers. I was just thinking today that I needed some flowers in the house. That will be my mission tomorrow - Flowers and photographs!
Oh yes, very zen.
First I had to google a Soul because I didn't know there was such a thing. OK, what's bigger than a bread box and smaller than my tool box ... you win, it's a Soul!!!!! Further, I could throw in everything funny about Soul Burner, Soul Driver, (Springsteen)
and of course , "you've got soul" Hey, if I buy the new 2010 Camaro (which gets 29 mpg to go against your 31mpg. I could blow your doors off and coast the last 2 miles to the gas station. Now that's very Zen.
Still like the Peonies!
Lissa - I hope you are accomplishing your mission for the day I expect to see the results at Christmas. (and yes I got my Soul)
Doug - a camaro sounds very fun - my next car will be very sporty I think then we'll see who blows who's doors off!
- in the meantime I needed more cargo space for all those paintings and supplies and painting road trips.

Chuck - how often does one hear that one's Soul rocks? I like that! Thanks for visiting - you've been missed!
Calli - I've been thinking of the word you so often describe my work with - serene. I like that it has that quality and of course in analyzing that, and aside from the fact that I don't always feel serene, it is at my core to be so. I'm thinking my next name should be Serena.
Thank you!
