Autumn's Last Gasp

The weather was incredible this weekend - in the 60's. So I stepped out and did a little plein air piece yesterday. Literally out my back door. The colors are pretty much gone by now, with only a few leaves hanging on. But this was in yard to the back. The neighbor was fast and furiously blowing
(irritating noise - should be banned on beautiful weekends...) leaves as I painted. Didn't he know he was taking away my color as I painted? And the light...changes really quick this time of year. I'm going to have to learn to paint faster.

Hi Mom.... I agree with Chuck, it is so beautiful. Fall is my favorite time of year and you captured it perfect. Love you.

Hi Deb,

I can't hear the blower but I can sense the serenity and the smell of fallen leaves. It seems this scene is in everyones memory of fall. I think you've captured it beautifully. Congratulations on getting out there and painting. Sorry to say I was one of those blowing leaves around.

Y'all made my day with all your praise! Thank you!

Fall is the perfect time of year isn't it?

Doug, Doug, Doug...I'll forgive you this time, but next time just let the wind do the work!

Your painting certainly captures the essence and true feel of autumn. The loose brushwork is exciting and this is unmistakably a plein air piece. Love the colours also. Well done for getting out there with a paintbrush rather than a rake.

Thanks Roger.Always appreciate your thoughts. I'll take a paintbrush over a rake any day! (much to my neighbors dismay I think...)
